DO NOT DELAY TALKING ABOUT PUBERTY!

Parents often delay the puberty talk out of fear of "messing up" or "saying the wrong thing", but the truth is puberty lasts for years! Take the pressure off of yourself! If you have many little talks spread throughout the two to three years, it's not so overwhelming.

But how? When she transitions away from being bathed to bathing herself, reiterate cleaning with soap and water underarms and between her legs. When her breast buds appear and she needs her first training bra, you know it's time to ease into bras and boobs. Roughly two years after puberty begins, she can expect her period. Don't let the day she starts her period, be the day you introduce pads.

I dissected a a female pelvis in medical school, slugged through a grueling Obstetrics and Gynecology residency and now I've packaged my knowledge about the female body especially puberty into not just a palatable presentation, but one that girls ages 8-11 watch and come away with puberty doesn't start with the period. The period is more like the grand finale!
