Easy Button

After our third kid, I was so overwhelmed. I felt like I couldn’t keep up. With my previous two kids, after a pediatrician visit with Dr. Nancy, I would record their height and weight in a keepsake journal. I was on Amazon in a postpartum haze trying to order a journal for the third kid, paralyzed with indecision, and started crying. My husband asked what was wrong, and I dramatically whined “Can’t I just love them?” He hugged me and said “Of course. Stop putting so much pressure on yourself,” and he took my phone away. It’s similar to the pressure that parents put on themselves to get the puberty talk “perfect.” It’s paralyzing and counter-productive.

Well, the third never got a journal, still doesn’t have one. Probably never will. But I’ve learned, finally, after three kids, to find the “easy button.” The easy button is a shortcut or outsourcing some task that I can’t perform. So when it comes time for the puberty conversation with your daughter, I hope you’ll push the easy button and call in the experts at In Full Bloom, MD.
