Puberty Problem: B.O.
Jul 14, 2026Yes. We have to talk about it. Nope. Nobody likes it. Body Odor. Ugh.
It is your responsibility as a mother or other trusted adult to talk to your daughter about body odor. As your hormones ramp up, the increased sweat and changing bacteria on the skin can lead to the stinky scent that we commonly refer to as body odor. Thank goodness, we live in modern times where we can shower daily and have deodorant readily available.
It is important to discuss hygiene with her in a non-judgemental and matter-of-fact way. If you notice B.O. coming from your daughter, please do not tease her about it. Gently tell her that you have noticed it, and you are going to help her solve the problem. It might be a good idea to mention to her that it is not her responsibility to tell others if they have B.O. It could be very embarrassing.
